The menstrual cycle may become unpredictable—longer, shorter, heavier, or skipped altogether. 

**Menopause is defined as 12 consecutive months without a menstrual period and  usually occurs between ages 45–55 although it can occur earlier or later depending on genetics. 

Sudden waves of heat, often with sweating and a flushed face, sometimes followed by chills. At night, they can disrupt sleep. 

  Difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking up too early—even when you feel tired. 

Feeling more irritable, anxious, or emotional than usual, sometimes without a clear reason. 

Forgetfulness, mental “fuzziness,” or difficulty concentrating on daily tasks. 

 A persistent sense of tiredness or lack of motivation, even after resting. 

 An increase in body fat, particularly around the midsection, that’s hard to control even with diet and exercise. 

 Reduced interest in sex or discomfort during intimacy due to less natural lubrication. 

Hair may become finer or shed more than usual; skin can feel drier, rougher, or more sensitive. 

 Aches or tightness in your joints or muscles, especially in the morning or after sitting still.
